Simply stated, fear is an emotion that is based on the anticipation of an unpleasant occurrence. When it comes to personal and professional development, fear usually sets in after visualizing the future and in it one sees failure. Or…when attempting some sort of action, one takes into account a previous action that may have failed. No matter how you define fear, it has no place in your life. Fear is the arch nemesis of faith. Faith is complete confidence, a belief with total conviction, or trust in something and is necessary for someone on a mission to fulfill his or her destiny.
Now that we have the definitions out of the way, this is what I want you to do. Take all of the fear you have about going after that promotion, launching your new business, relocating to another state, writing that book, getting rid of that toxic relationship, going blond, shaving your beard…WHATEVER it is…and replace it with faith. Have complete confidence, belief with total conviction, and trust in your ability to design a plan, take effective action and succeed at whatever you intend to achieve.
That is what development is all about…taking the time to invest in your ability to be in constant progression. When you put in the work, you should be able to visualize a successful future. Despite past failures, you can learn and begin again more effectively. You have nothing to fear when your faith is not just in you, but in your measurable efforts to succeed in every area of your life.
Fear not and move forward with faith!
